Bag om Planters of the Crown
In 16th Century Ireland, the reign of Queen Elizabeth comes with a mandate to disavow the Catholic faith and submit to the English Crown. To enforce her policy, she appoints her cousin, Lord Thomas Radcliffe as the Lord Deputy of Ireland. He is determined, uncompromising, and quickly extinguishes all resistance within the English Pale. As for the chieftains who resist, Radcliffe strips them of their land to make room for English plantation. It is a tactic that works well in the midlands surrounding Kildare and Meath but newly arrived English planters will soon find out that the seas around Connaught are terrorized by pirates and Ulster has a king of its own.
This is a story about people; both real and imagined who endure a land ripe with rebellion. The year is 1560 and the central character is an indentured girl from London who comes from nothing but experiences everything in a time of reformation.
