Farmers: young and old, cunning, foolish, greedy, generous, talented and forgotten. These and those belonging to them are gathered in this collection, sometimes clearly in Ireland?s west, but mostly in an unnamed landscape which shapes those often waiting for that rainy day to come. The Rainy Day is Martin Keaveney?s debut collection of short stories. Fiction has previously been published in Ireland, UK and US. Screen and stage credits include RTE and Scripts Ireland Playwriting Festival. He has a B.A. in English and Italian, an M.A. in English (Writing) and is currently completing a PhD. at NUIG (Creative Writing and Textual Studies). He was awarded the Sparanacht Ui Eithir for his research in 2016. He works as a creative writing lecturer/consultant.
