Bag om SEXUAL VIOLENCE, YOUTH HARD DRUG USE AND CULTISM IN NIGER DELTA REGION
The purpose of this work therefore was to examine how hard drug use among youth has led to sexual violence and rise in cultism in Niger-Delta region of Nigeria from 2010-2020. There are four competing theories for our theoretical framework- Routine activity theory (RAT), Rational choice theory (RCT), Situational action theory (SAT) and Street code theory (SCT), but we adopted the later. The study adopted the sample survey design research design. The sample size of 400 was determined using Taro Yamane formula from a population of 447,779 using the stratified and purposive sampling technique. The major instruments used in generating data for this study were questionnaire, observation and interview.The structured questionnaire titled: ¿Sexual violence, youth hard drug use and cultism in Niger-Delta region¿ (SVYHDUACINDRQ). The collected data were analysed using the simple percentage and Chi-square (x2) statistical tool to test the various hypotheses.
