Slovenly Peter is a children's book originally published in German in 1845 under the title Struwwelpeter. The book was written by Heinrich Hoffmann, a German psychiatrist, and was intended to teach children about proper behavior and manners. The stories cover a variety of topics, including hygiene, safety, and respecting others. Some of the stories are quite dark and feature children meeting gruesome fates as a result of their misbehavior. Despite this, the book has remained popular over the years and has been translated into many languages. The 1918 English edition of Slovenly Peter features new illustrations by Harold Begbie and F.
