Bag om The Confederacy
""The Confederacy: A Comedy"" is a play written by John Vanbrugh, first performed in 1705. The play is set in London and centers around two sisters, Carolina and Harriet, who are in love with two brothers, Jack and Tom. However, their father, Sir Jasper, disapproves of the match and has arranged for them to marry wealthy suitors instead. The sisters, along with their maidservants, conspire to switch places with each other and their suitors in order to marry the men they truly love. The play is filled with mistaken identities, witty dialogue, and comical situations. It is considered one of Vanbrugh's most successful plays and a classic example of Restoration comedy. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
