After the events of The Enchanted Bell Tower, Book One: In the Beginning, David Jordan's life changed for the better. He made new friends; he got closer to his brother, Jonathan, while spending countless hours visiting the stories of the Bible via the enchanted bell tower; he began playing soccer in a recreational league; he adopted a positive view of life for the first time since his mother died; and, a new girl-Becca-arrived in Dexter and befriended him. David's future looked bright...until Judd Johnson and his gang of thugs bully David as he arrives at the Dexter Middle School grounds with Becca to show her around on her first day at the school. Suddenly, David's life feels like a mess again. Harboring feelings of shame, David retreats from all of his friends, including his brother and Mr. Joshua. In the midst of these struggles, God speaks to Davis through a dream. As David seeks to discover the meaning of his dream, he and Jonathan enter into the story of Jesus' birth as told through the gospel of Matthew.
