The Examen

We don't like to think about it. But we are all sinners - every, single, last one of us. Yet, here on earth, we are all called to become holy, in the image and likeness of Christ. We are called to be the hands and feet and voice and light of Christ in the world. To truly do this, though, we must embody the Word of God. It is not enough to preach with words or post little memes on social media. We must heroically live out His law (the Ten Commandments) with our lives. Never, never, has this been more important - more urgent - than it is right now. St. Paul warned that, before the antichrist comes, there will first come "the great apostasy" (2 Thessalonians 2:3). This is a widespread abandonment of the faith. That means the rejection of God's law is a precursor to the great apostasy and the world's embrace of the lawless one. This should cause every Christian soul to shudder, considering the many ways the world has already legalized sin.
It should also cause every Christian to consider a regular examination of conscience. It should urge all of us to perform a sort of spiritual audit asking ourselves, how have I been faithful, and where do I need to work harder? This book is a guide to help you do just that. But, it is not for the faint of heart. It is for those gallant souls committed to aligning their hearts and lives with Christ and thereby weakening the grip of the lawless one.
