The Heart Pull

As a clanswoman, Alena is faced with a difficult decision. Listen to the councilmen of the clan, or put her plan into action. Her clan, on the brink of starvation, needs funds to gather supplies for the winter. Alena thinks she can get what they need, which may mean risking her life. The myths of the Rankors describe them as slow, unintelligent, but amazingly large and strong people-the kind of people that deal in gold, and lots of it. Some of that gold would be exactly what her clan could use to get them through the winter. Putting her life at risk, Alena leaves her village in search of the gold that could save their lives. Alena finds herself cornered by a Rankor in her search, but he is not what he seems. He may be large and strong, but she learns quickly that Rankors are not what the myths say. Jerum decides to help Alena in her quest for gold, promising a way to save her people. During their time together, Jarem realizes Alena is his mate. The pull in his heart confirms she is the one for him. The only problem, Alena plans to return to her people and the separation from her could kill him.
