The Indian Way: Chickasaw Historical Society Presents

This book is the third in a series on the Five Civilized Tribes. Original inspiration for the series came from Foxfire, a study of the Appalachian mountain people. Like that book, these have attempted to set down some of the customs, legends, and folklore of the Indian people. The Indian Way: The Chickasaws is a series of human interest stories of Chickasaws we thought interesting. We talked with people of all ages, from high school sophomores to a 97 year old. We talked not only about the past, but we also tried to determine through talks with tribal leaders some of the directions in which the tribe can be expected to go within the next few years."-- Page iv.
