The Manxman is a novel written by Hall Caine and was first published in 1894. The story is set on the Isle of Man and revolves around two childhood friends, Pete and Philip, who grow up together and fall in love with the same woman, Kate. Pete is a fisherman and Philip is a lawyer, and their lives take very different paths. Kate is torn between her love for both men and must make a difficult decision. The novel explores themes of love, loyalty, betrayal, and the consequences of one's actions. The Manxman was a bestseller in its time and has been adapted into several films, including a silent film in 1916 and a talkie in 1930. Before he leaves Pete asks his friend Philip to keep an eye on Kate. But, unbeknownst to Pete, the Philip is also in love with Kate.
