The Merry Tales Of The Three Wise Men Of Gotham

Bag om The Merry Tales Of The Three Wise Men Of Gotham

The Merry Tales of the Three Wise Men of Gotham is a collection of humorous stories written by James Kirke Paulding. The book is set in the fictional town of Gotham, which is known for its eccentric and foolish inhabitants. The three main characters, Simon, John, and Will, are portrayed as simple-minded yet well-meaning individuals who often find themselves in ridiculous situations. The stories are filled with witty dialogue, slapstick humor, and satirical commentary on society. Some of the tales include the trio's attempts at farming, their misguided efforts to catch a thief, and their comical encounters with wealthy merchants. The book is a lighthearted and entertaining read, offering a glimpse into the world of 19th-century American humor.A want of sufficient confidence in their own opinions, appears to me another fault, which, however, almost deserves to be pardoned on account of its novelty. It has happened to me more than once, to hear a judge decide upon a case, on the ground of some recorded decision of another judge, when I myself would a thousand times rather have trusted it to his own unbiassed sense of right and wrong. It seems odd, to see a lawyer teaching a judge his lesson, out of a pile of books, and making him who is there as a master, appear more like a scholar, learning his alphabet from some beardless pedagogue. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
