The Wrong Choices

Recovering from the slavish life of working for a big law firm, John Mariner looks forward to settling into his new small firm and spending more time reconnecting with his wife and two young children. Before he can do much settling, tragedy strikes the firm. One of the lead partner’s closest friends and business partner—and, as luck would have it, John’s main client—commits suicide.

With scarcely any time to grieve, trouble finds John and his firm once more—this time a missing secretary. The Houston police detective assigned to the case solicits John for his help in solving the suicide and missing secretary. As John delves deeper into the suspicious circumstances surrounding both cases, more deaths occur and startling similarities begin to emerge, leading John down a more perilous path than he could ever have imagined.

Eddy Rogers, a mostly-retired corporate lawyer, spent his career buying, selling, and starting up companies for clients. Rogers has written a number of professional articles and non-fiction short stories, and in 2016 published The Lucky Strike, his first short novel. The Wrong Choices: A John Mariner Mystery is a prequel to that book.
