The Yellow Wallpaper

In this short story, the first person narrator is a woman locked in a room by her husband for "health reasons." She becomes obsessed with the yellow wallpaper as she slowly goes insane. First published in 1892, this story illustrates how women needed to get more power over their own lives, and as such, it's been a staple of feminist literature ever since.
