Thorney is a historical fiction novel written by Alexander Black and published in 1913. The story is set in the 12th century and follows the life of a young English nobleman named Thorney who is forced to flee his home after his father is accused of treason. Thorney travels to Scotland where he is taken in by a group of outlaws and becomes a skilled archer. He eventually joins forces with King David of Scotland and fights against the English in the Battle of the Standard. Along the way, Thorney falls in love with a Scottish woman named Elspeth and faces many challenges as he tries to prove his loyalty to his new home.
