Matt Francis' religious education began in childhood. While attending a Seventh-Day Adventist church and school, he came to perceive God as a vengeful presence ready to strike the moment he strayed from the path. After leaving the Seventh-Day Adventist faith as a teenager, he searched for a church where he felt a meaningful association, and his search would carry on into adulthood. As he continued to leave one congregation after the next, a burning question remained. What was keeping him from embracing each church?
As it turns out, the answer was a simple one. In all his years of religious experimentation, at no point could anyone convincingly connect the dots to form the full picture of God. Francis had always been taught that God was consistent, yet he couldn't see it - until he started looking to connect the dots for himself.
