The words and music for "At the Gate of Heaven" ("A la puerta del cielo"), a New Mexican lullaby, are included. Pamela Porter was born in Albequerque, New Mexico. Her novel The Crazy Man has been a stunning success, winning the Governor General's Award, the Texas Institute of Letters Friends of the Austin Public Library Award for Best Yound Adult Book, the CLA Book of the Year for Children Award, the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for Young People, the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award, the Rocky Mountain Book Award, the Hackmatack Award, the OLA Golden Oak Award and the Manitoba Young Reader's Choice Award. She has written another children's novel, Sky, and has published two collections of poetry. Pamela now lives with her family in Sidney, British Columbia. Matt James is a painter, illustrator and musician. He held his first exhibition in 2003 and has contributed paintings and illustrations to numerous publications. Matt's band, Wayne Omaha, has toured Canada and released three full-length CDs. He grew up in Woodstock, Ontario, and now lives in Toronto.
