Yorkshire

Bag om Yorkshire

""Yorkshire"" is a comprehensive guidebook written by Gordon Home that provides a detailed account of the history, culture, and attractions of the county of Yorkshire in England. The book covers all aspects of the area, from its stunning landscapes and natural beauty to its rich cultural heritage and bustling cities. The book is divided into several sections, each focusing on a different aspect of Yorkshire. The first section explores the history of the county, from its early settlements to its role in the Industrial Revolution. This section also covers the county's famous landmarks, including castles, abbeys, and stately homes. The second section of the book focuses on the natural beauty of Yorkshire, with detailed descriptions of the county's many parks, gardens, and nature reserves. The author provides information on the best places to hike, cycle, and explore the countryside, as well as tips on where to find the best views and wildlife. The third section of the book covers the county's towns and cities, including Leeds, York, and Sheffield. The author provides an overview of each city's history and culture, as well as information on the best places to eat, drink, and shop. Throughout the book, the author includes stunning photographs and illustrations that bring the county to life. He also provides practical information on transportation, accommodations, and other travel essentials. Overall, ""Yorkshire"" is an essential guidebook for anyone interested in exploring this beautiful and historic region of England. It is a must-read for tourists, history buffs, and nature lovers alike. The walk along the rocky shore to Kettleness is dangerous unless the tide is carefully watched, and the road inland through Lythe village is not particularly interesting, so that one is tempted to use the railway, which cuts right through the intervening high ground by means of two tunnels. The first one is a mile long, and somewhere near the centre has a passage out to the cliffs, so that even if both ends of the tunnel collapsed there would be a way of escape. But this is small comfort when travelling from Kettleness, for the down gradient towards Sandsend is very steep, and in the darkness of the tunnel the train gets up a tremendous speed, bursting into the open just where a precipitous drop into the sea could be most easily accomplished. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
