In the very part, a modest attempt is made to discuss the history of Indian English fiction, background of Indian novel, Vikram Seth¿s, and Arundhati Roy¿s place in the literary scenario. The second part is a study of the various innovative techniques and analysis of Vikram Seth¿s The Golden Gate. It is a tale in the oral tradition where in the listeners are acutely involved in the story and at the same time aware that it is not for real. Seth sets out to tell a story, a story that is intimate, emotional, and passionate.
