This patriotic song was written by Katharine Lee Bates many years ago when she was inspired by Colorado's Pike's Peak, Kansas wheat fields, and Chicago's gleaming skyline. It has become a favorite patriotic song over the years. While we embrace the words and music, we may not always understand the words.
