Ben-Hur: Or The Days Of The Messiah is a historical fiction novel written by Lewis Wallace and published in 1884. However, their friendship is shattered when Messala becomes a Roman soldier and accuses Ben-Hur of a crime he did not commit. Ben-Hur is then sold into slavery and spends years working as a galley slave on a Roman ship. After a shipwreck, Ben-Hur is rescued by a wealthy Arab and becomes a successful charioteer. He eventually returns to Judea and seeks revenge against Messala. Along the way, he encounters Jesus Christ and becomes a follower of his teachings. The novel is known for its vivid descriptions of ancient Judea and its portrayal of Jesus Christ. It also explores themes of revenge, forgiveness, and redemption.
