Butterfly Obsidian

Itzpapalotl, the Aztec goddess and warrior, haunts the Clutterbuck house. She and her butterflies are cruel creatures that have piercing claws and teeth and dig into the brain. Although they try to protect Clara, the youngest of her family, they cannot fight pure insanity. In Clara's safe, loving, family home, love is used to hide sins and secrets. As life moves forward in the Clutterbuck house, layers of mysteries are peeled back, each more horrific than the last. Held prisoner. Used as sexual bait. Turned into a psychological experiment. Clara doesn't even know her own age or what she looks like. Each time Clara regains hidden memories of her childhood, those she loves most die. Amid total isolation, she finds that no one can be trusted, certainly not her family. Her beloved father tells her that she is precious and salvageable, her siblings appear to dote on her, but only her butterflies remain loyal companions. As she faces her brutal past and fights to survive both mentally and physically, Clara must decide if sanity is what she really wants and what price she will pay.
