Bag om Catriona

Catriona is a historical novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson and published in 1893. It is a sequel to his earlier novel, Kidnapped, and continues the story of its protagonist, David Balfour. The novel is set in 1751, two years after the events of Kidnapped, and follows David as he returns to Scotland after a long absence in the Low Countries. Upon his return, David becomes embroiled in a political conspiracy involving the Jacobite uprising, which seeks to restore the exiled Stuart dynasty to the throne of Great Britain. He also reunites with his old friend, Alan Breck Stewart, who is now a fugitive from justice. Together, they undertake a dangerous journey across the Scottish Highlands to help a young woman named Catriona Drummond, who is being held against her will by her own father. Throughout the novel, Stevenson explores themes of loyalty, honor, and justice, as well as the complex relationships between fathers and daughters, and between friends. He also vividly depicts the rugged beauty of the Scottish landscape, and the harsh realities of life in 18th-century Scotland. Catriona is a thrilling adventure story, full of suspense, action, and intrigue. It is also a moving tale of friendship, love, and sacrifice, and a testament to Stevenson's talent as a writer.THE 25th day of August, 1751, about two in the afternoon, I, David Balfour, came forth of the British Linen Company, a porter attending me with a bag of money, and some of the chief of these merchants bowing me from their doors.
