Country Wives

Second in a series of Country Wives who were married to at least two Company Men. Josephte Grant was the country wife of John Wills. They had three children: John, Emelie, and Edouard. Josephte Grant was married a second time in the manner of the county to Pierre Latour. They had one daughter named Josephte Latour and also called Josette Welsh or Montour. There is no document proving the parents of Josephte Grant, but she is the godmother for several of Cuthbert Grant Sr.'s descendants. This family history includes four generations and witnessed events and notes for baptisms, marriages, burials, employment history, scrip applications, censuses, treaties, annuity payments, participation in the Riel Rebellion, etc.
