Gerald Forster opens a letter that shocks him so profoundly that he suffers a fatal stroke. His life savings have been wiped out by a holiday property investment scam masterminded by James Bulstrode, a man with a profitable sideline in trafficking beautiful girls to wealthy and unscrupulous men in remote parts of the world. Elaine, Gerald's widow, joins the Richmond Rebels, a club for independent-minded older people. There she meets Harry and Karen Webster who resolve to entice Bulstrode into leaving the security of his private Caribbean island by tempting him back to the UK - and into the arms of the forces of law and order - with a scam of their own.
