The road to America from Spain was paved with promises. So began the journey of a few brave Spaniards and their exodus to the United States. But not all promises come true. Some promises are never achieved, while others are met with heartache. Others know truths that cannot be buried. Life was hard in Spain at the turn of the 20th century, but as so many learned, times were tough everywhere. Yet through it all, the migration and evolution of one family is filled with humor, laughter and an inherent love of life. These short stories are true and cover the journey made over one hundred years of history. Some stories are funny, others more poignant. Once settled in the USA, many Spanish traditions were upheld and are still strongly embedded in the lives of their descendants. Many of the stories take place in Tampa, Florida, where the cigar industry still strives to remain viable and has left its imprint on so many people. This family believes their memoirs should be embraced and told for future generations to remember.
