Bag om Not Finished Yet
In November 2013, Mike McGrath was told that he had stage 4 throat cancer. To say that this startling news came as a complete shock to him was an understatement, because Mike considered himself to be pretty fit and healthy. Apart from a small lump under his left jaw, there had been no sign that anything was wrong. Mike suddenly found himself on the receiving end of an array of standard cancer treatment procedures such as CT scans, PET scans, fine needle aspirations, TORS surgery, radical neck dissection, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and so on. Like most first-time cancer patients, Mike was not familiar with these procedures, and did not know what to expect or how he should prepare for them. He realized that many first-time cancer patients must find themselves in a similar predicament - having to deal with the unknown. Therefore, Mike decided to write this book about his personal battle with throat cancer, and subsequent recovery. He wanted to describe his experience with the various procedures he was exposed to during his cancer treatment - specifically when he had them, how he felt about them, and most importantly, how much they hurt! If you have been diagnosed with cancer, or know someone who is about to undergo their own journey, then this book might offer some insights as to what to expect. But above all else, Mike hopes that this book will provide you with some encouragement, because he is proof that cancer can be defeated. Despite the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 throat cancer, Mike successfully battled through the treatment and survived, proving that he was Not Finished Yet!
