Feared as a demon because of his two different colored eyes, as well as for his outlandish actions, Highlander Onyx MacKeefe is known as a madman. While celebrating his birthday one cold night, he meets a bonnie Englishwoman searching for her father's killer. To his surprise, the Sasssenach accuses his mother and orders her soldiers to arrest her.
Lady Loveday de Lacy, known as Lovelle, comes to Scotland looking for not only her father's murderer, but also her mother's stolen Book of Hours. She is sure she found the guilty woman, but before she can collect her and leave, the woman's rugged Highland son takes her captive in exchange for release of his mother.
When things get out of hand, Onyx and his friends head to the Highlands with Lovelle as their prisoner. Time is of the essence, and unless Onyx can find and bring back the Book of Hours his mother stole, the woman will be killed.
Can a proper Englishwoman and a Scottish madman find the strength to work together for a common cause before someone dies? And when feelings start to stir between these enemies, will an attraction that was never meant to happen end up being a saving grace in the end?
