Derek French recounts tales from his childhood growing up on a farm outside of London during the Second World War. Ranging from descriptions of his colourful descriptions of his family life, to memories of the childhood games played in the neighbourhood, to the wartime stories played on the radio. Touching every aspect of this memoir is the ever-present reality of the War and the dangers of war as England endured a never-ending siege. French's tale is at times joyous and exciting, at times somber and reflective but an engaging read on every page.
