Wesley Adam Williams was an African American born in 1897. He entered a segregated Fire Department and not only survived, but through his strength, fortitude and tenacity he became New York's first Black Fire Chief. This book is a must read for the old and young, black or white, who want to learn the truth about the obstacles and successes of Blacks in the Fire Department of New York.
