The Shielding of Mortimer Townes

Maksey, an overly inquisitive ten-year old, is seeing aliens. When no one believes her, she takes matters into her own hands but soon learns that she's not the only one who is seeing things. A gang of local bicycle riding boys, an impenetrable shield around retired farmer Mortimer Townes, a local constable, and the mysterious Inquisitor Halkus Moore are only part of the impending global conflict set to converge on Mortimer's farm.
