The War Prayer

"The War Prayer," was left unpublished until six years after Twain's death because his family pressured him to keep it to himself. A friend asked if he would publish it anyway and he replied, "No, I have told the whole truth in that, and only dead men can tell the truth in this world. It can be published after I am dead."
