One spring day, bored of cleaning, Mole decides to come out of his home into the fresh air, seeing the river for the first time. Here he meets Ratty who shows him the joys of the river and boating. The pair visitToad, a kindhearted but foolish creature who always pours money into his latest fad, only to loose interest as quickly as he gained it. Toad's latest fad, driving expensive cars at speed, is likely to get him into a lot of trouble and so, with the help of Badger, a sensible and stern creature, the trio set about trying to save Toad from himself. This is the classic tale about the four riverbank friends, each with their own individual strength and is a beautiful tale of friendship.
