Bag om The year's end
Ruhi, a seventeen- year- old is being sent to live with her uncle Tarun in Delhi, because her parents are moving to Africa for a year. The only child of her parents Ruhi has never left home before. Now to move such a great distance from Pune to Delhi to live with an Uncle she does not know, is not something she's looking forward to. It's a wrench leaving behind her family, her friends, her city - even if it's only for a year. When she gets there, things become worse. She finds herself confronting a hostile Yamini and her cold unwelcoming aunt. No-one, it seems, really wants her there. Feeling alone and helpless she welcomes her cousin Mike's impersonal kindness though his punkish appearance and clothes take her by surprise. Her college -St. Stephen's- seems as intimidating and alien as her soignée cousin Yamini. Ruhi is quite sure she will never fit in. Ruhi finds herself alone, miserable and waiting for the year to end so that she can go back home. But she begins to perceive that things are not what they seem and people- not at all. And finally the year draws to a close. But is it really the end Ruhi had visualized?
