Damaged and broken Olivia Calloway, suffers severe depression and low self-esteem as her abusive, alcoholic husband, Daniel Calloway, continues to control and manipulate her daily. Her only friend, Rochelle Landers, is the only person she has to run to for refuge, until the owner of Tyler Corporations, Mr. Lucas Tyler, steps in the conference room at Finch, Inc., settling a business proposition between the two companies, and steals her attention. While Olivia and Rochelle conjure up weekend getaways when Daniel and his buddies take their weekend fishing trips, a connection forms between Olivia and Lucas, as she has many encounters with him in Charleston, never revealing her other life to him. As she becomes lost in confusion on the decision she needs to make, whether stay with Daniel or start a new life with Lucas, Janie Tyler, Lucas' sister, pays an unexpected visit to Olivia, warning her not to hurt Lucas due to a traumatic experience of his past that resulted in him shutting down and secluding himself from the world and everyone around him. Olivia finds the news disturbing and inquires more, but Janie doesn't give it. What happened in Lucas' past that traumatized him so deeply? And who will Olivia choose, the man she's invested majority of her life in, who she shares two children with, or the man that has awakened the emotions of her slumbered soul, giving her nothing less than the love in his heart?
