Treehouse

- the collection of paintings by Dan Fuller

Bag om Treehouse

About This Book Dan Fuller's concept, the one all of his paintings are based on, is truly unique. Therefore, it follows that each of his works are so different from anything that came before; they grab one's imagination. Inside of this book you will find that they are also beautifully painted, intriguing and they run the gamut of being entertaining to having great depth. They are also beautifully reproduced in full color so one can get lost in them for hours. He includes topics, such as his concept, his artist's statement, the paths he followed, and about Giclees, pros and cons. In addition, it includes tales of his traveling years; related stories about each of his paintings and stories about his career including the excitement his works received during the first time they were displayed in public. The text in this book virtually turned into a visual-verbal self portrait of his life before adulthood, and later as a professional fine artist. And it includes the traditional ups and downs that Dan, as well as, other artists have to go through; especially, when their works have been too different for acceptance by the powers that be. As you will discover within these pages; the first Treehouse was the step-child of a watercolor experiment and based on his sense of humor; not the result of a brilliant idea. Immediately after it was done, a series of events occurred that opened doors to other ideas which he interpreted through pen and ink studies. Then he entered those into a Professional Picture Framers Show in New Orleans. There his drawings received numerous positive comments from the attending art dealers; but most of them let him know that their customers would love to see them in color - - so he decided to use the existing pen and ink drawings as studies for the first ones and that was the conception of Treehouse. And since he had done hundreds of plein air landscapes in acrylics, quite a few of them prize winners, he was already highly qualified to paint the following works in that - his favorite medium. Soon after that, as he was painting the fourth of his subjects in the back room of a gallery/frame shop on Jackson Square, two women were watching him working on it. The other three paintings were leaning on a wall behind his easel in plain sight, so they could easily see the direction his works were heading. So they asked Dan what the price was, and just to end the conversation, he said "Twenty five thousand." And they left, which had been his intention; however, the next day they amazingly returned with a cashier's check for the full amount in hand, which really blew Dan's mind but also made him realize their value. And knowing that, he has refused to sell the originals. At various times, Dan Fuller's treehouse driven paintings have been described as being "like Salvador Dali's and feel like Norman Rockwell's works" They also have the same audience as Samuel Clemens books; as unlikely as that seems. The latter, since there is a treehouse in each of his works; that coincides with the age bracket and adventurous nature of Tom Sawyer. Nevertheless, although, the first paintings were ahead of their time, with the excitement they have engendered, the Treehouse Collection has proven to be perfect for today. In the interim, since that first one, in order to survive he has painted thousands of pastel portraits over a period scanning 45 years. He's also done hundreds of plein air landscapes and he's fulfilled a heck of a lot of commissions; and all without any complaints from his customers. And now, he has completed the last requirement; this book.
