The Last Days
It is inevitable. The day will come for every outdoor enthusiast--the hunter, the fisherman, the trapper, and all others so inclined--when the ravages of time and life itself will speak the words, "That's it." There will be no reversal. What is done is done. Only the memories of days afield will remain.
It is to these memories of mine and those of all outdoor adventurers that I dedicate this book to. For those who have not yet reached this end stage, I challenge you to prepare for that day by not only making new memories but, in some form or fashion, taking steps to preserve them. Photographs, daily logs, and other recording methods will help ensure that when it ends, the memories will not. You need not write it all down as I have done with this book. But by some method, I encourage you to prepare a record of some type that will suffice for your needs.
Glory be to God for creating the fields and forests within which I found so much pleasure and comfort. Maybe sometime in the future afterlife, my loyal Mia and I will be reunited again, together, to walk the golden fields of grass, looking for the elusive pheasant.
