What Is God's Name?

Why does God put such a great emphasis on His name? I believe you will find the answer to this question, and much, much more in this book. For several years I could not understand why so much importance was placed on the Name of God rather than on God Himself. Verses of scripture such as the following greatly stirred my curiosity: "[1] The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; [5] We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions. [7] Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."
