Bag om Ya Storybook

Ya! Storybook is a collection of 30 fictional short stories inspired by the imagination of the young co-authors. These stories are selected for their excellence from entries in a Ya Writers Contest and chosen to appear in this first volume to celebrate the talent and achievements of these young writers. All proceeds from the Ya! Storybook will be used to produce the next Ya Writers Contest and a donation from each book will be given to Vanessa Grimaldi's "No Better You" Foundation helping students with special needs. "When you read a short story, you come out a little more aware and a little more in love with the world around" - George Saunders The Ya Writers Contest was launched in early 2017 and resulted in over 1000 entries from students in two school boards from elementary grades one through six and secondary levels one through five in Montreal, Canada. This Contest provided students with a chance to explore their creativity by crafting an original short story and submitting it in their own handwriting. The Ya Writers Contest is the creation of Ya Media Founder and Educator, Giancarlo Mirabella. His desire was for children to learn the valuable role literature plays in their lives and to promote the benefits of both reading and writing. All submissions were reviewed by a Reading and Selection Committee and the top five chosen stories in each category and are published here in Volume I of the Ya! STORYBOOK: Original Short Stories by the Winners of the Ya Writers Contest. We applaud every student for their courage, inspiration and talent and encourage them all to continue writing and reaching for the stars. We are very proud of each student for their accomplishments and look forward to the next Ya Writers Contest 2018.
