Following the advice of my doctor, I eagerly pursued the question of why love dies. In Savannah, I found the answer. The woman I had loved for more than thirteen years had suddenly abandoned me. I had given myself a year to grieve her loss and prepare to move on with my life. Yet, that knowledge of why love dies offered no assurance that I could keep from losing love again.
